Following the recent decision made by the FDA to limit the use of antibiotics in food animals, the National Institute for Animal Agriculture (NIAA) has written a white paper titled, “Bridging the Gap between Animal Health and Human Health.” This paper offers good observations on the use of antibiotics not only in animals, but also in humans. Although the paper is extensive, it provides interesting information that comes as a result of the NIAA symposium that took place November 12-14, 2013. The symposium allowed animal and human health scientists and experts to interact, sharing the most current science-based information, along with their professional knowledge.Read more here about why antibiotic resistance is commonly misunderstood, and what it really means to both animal and human health.
