by Rebecca Haugland | July 27, 2020

As part of the GVL blog, we’re featuring our employees so you can get an inside view into what keeps GVL running. We are very proud of our team and excited to share some of our employee profiles with you.

Today we’re featuring GVL Customer Success Representative Morgan Thorpe

As part of the customer success team, Morgan works with our customers every day to help them navigate the GVL platform, troubleshoot issues, and maintain compliance with travel requirements. She joined the GVL team in February 2020.

Get to know Morgan better:

“I have always enjoyed working with livestock and helping people, so I really enjoy my role in customer success! This job meshes both of those worlds together by allowing me to stay within the livestock industry, and allows me to balance time being with my family.

My grandpa raised cattle in Missouri, and being on the Iowa/Missouri line allowed me to spend time with him doing that. I then got involved with 4-H and later FFA, and through this I started showing sheep, goats, and hogs. Livestock has always been where my heart lies, so naturally, I wanted to get a degree in something that would allow me to work with livestock. That led me to attend Iowa State University and to major in Animal Science. I loved my time at ISU and made a lot of great memories!

Once I graduated, I went to work with Iowa Select farms and spent the last three and a half years working there. I grew up lambing out sheep and kidding out goats, so pigging out sows was something new I wanted to experience. I loved it! I ended up moving into the Department Head role at my farm, where I lead the farrowing department. We had a great crew, and ended up being ranked 3 out of 42 farms for a year!

While working at Iowa Select, I had my son and wanted to spend more time with him. That led me to GVL. I realized quickly my experience with multiple species, showing, and raising stock allowed me to really help our customers, whether it’s a veterinarian or an owner.

I believe the experience our CS team has in the industry has led to the praise our CS team gets from customers. We’re all here to help our customers, and we strive to help as much as we can when a customer rings in.

It’s great to hear how much our customers enjoy the EECVI program, as vets aren’t burdened with creating as many certificates for their equine clients’ travels, and owners can prepare them in advance. I also know that many of our customers enjoy HorseSync, because it’s so much easier to upload the images required for the EIAs.

We’ve also recently updated the regulations for all US states and territories, which takes the pressure off of our veterinarian customers, so they don’t have to search state movement requirements.”

From GVL Customer Success Manager Sadie Williams:

“Morgan has been at GVL around six months and is constantly proving that she is an asset to our team. Morgan shows care and concern for our customers in every interaction and never fails to go above and beyond their needs. With her background in animal science and the swine industry she truly understands and wants to help our customers grow and learn. Morgan comes to work each day with a go-getter attitude. I am so proud to have her in CS!”

From GVL Chief Revenue Officer Brett Keirstead:

“Morgan has been a welcome addition to the team since day one! She is not only focused on providing excellent proactive service to our clients, but she also raises her hand anytime additional opportunities exist within GVL. She has taken the time to learn to expand her product knowledge across the GVL platform and her extra effort has paid off for her customers and teammates.”
