As part of the GVL blog, we’re featuring our employees so you can get an inside view into what keeps GVL running. We are very proud of our team and excited to share some of our employee profiles with you.

Today we’re featuring GVL National Sales Manager Ron Lane

As National Sales Manager, Ron Lane manages a team of nine outstanding individuals that deal with the acquisition and onboarding of new customers, as well as the management of current accounts and the introduction of new GVL solutions to existing customers. Ron also works closely with our strategic account manager and leadership team on business development opportunities.

Get to know Ron better:

I consider myself to be very fortunate to have a fairly unique upbringing on one of the largest ranches in Texas. I spent most of my youth living a lifestyle that most people only read about. I competed in team roping throughout my high school and college career, and attended Texas Tech University after graduation from Panhandle High School where I graduated with a degree in Animal Science in 1993. After graduation I went back to ranch and train horses for several years before going to work for Boehringer Ingelheim as a Cattle Territory Manager for West Texas. I spent almost 10 years with BI, and since then I have worked for great companies like Cargill and Kinetic Vet while staying involved in ranching. I feel that my years of hands-on experience as well as my years in the pharmaceutical and feed industries have given me an in-depth understanding of the challenges that GVL customers face in their businesses.

I started working for GVL in 2016 just before the new regulations around VFDs went into effect. It was quickly apparent that GVL was not only providing a solution to a regulatory requirement but that we were providing a valuable connection to all stakeholders in the process. There were about 6 months of full contact sales and support to get 1,000 new clinics onboarded and trained in the use of the system and how to write compliant certificates. For several months my phone would start ringing at about 5:00 am and I would take calls until at least 8:00 pm. It was very rewarding to be able to help GVL customers and many long-time friends through such a major shift in the industry. Even today I feel very fortunate to still be able to assist customers and see the positive impact GVL solutions have in their practices.

I am now approaching four years of employment with GVL. The first position I held at GVL was territory manager for the western United States, and I was then promoted to National Sales Manager. A large part of my position involves working closely with the rest of the customer journey team, as well as product and development, to ensure that the GVL experience is world class.

The number one thing that I enjoy at GVL is seeing how the solutions we provide make a positive impact on our customers’ businesses. A very close second to that is the privilege of working with such an outstanding group of people at GVL. I am very proud of the accomplishments I have been part of on the sales side of GVL, but they are all a direct result of the hard work and dedication of the GVL team.

The most important thing I want customers to know is that I understand their businesses and the impact not having compliant documents can have. I still actively ranch and compete in the National Reined Cowhorse Association, so I am actively using GVL certificates to travel with my horses and to keep our cattle operation compliant.

I have been in sales in the Animal Health and Nutrition industry for 20 plus years now, and to hear the stories from vets about how GVL has helped them in their practice still motivates me like it did the day I started at GVL.”

From GVL Customer Success Manager Sadie Williams:

“Ron is one of the best leaders and advisors I have had the pleasure working with so far in my career. He is always the first person to ask, ‘What can I do, how can I help?’ when things go sideways. If that’s not enough, his southern accent and stories will keep you entertained and lighthearted for the entire day. Ron is truly the backbone and definition of GVL!”

From GVL Territory Manager Tyler Eagan:

I am greatful to have Ron as a manager. He has helped in many ways and has been a significant part in my growth as a TM through the world of animal health. I appreciate his wisdom from his years in sales. I have never had a manager more willing to help educate and listen in a sales role before. He also has a way of telling his stories that entertain anyone listening, even if you know nothing about his references!”
